Unity
Shoppe, Inc.
The Unity Shoppe, Inc. is the largest direct distributor of Food
and Clothing in the County of Santa Barbara. 146 Social Service
Organizations, Non Profit Agencies, Churches, Schools and Hospitals
refer over 10,000 low-income people yearly to the store to shop
with dignity for the things they need. By helping with "basic needs"
we can prevent "homelessness and welfare dependency". No progress
is possible until the problems of shelter food and clothing are
addressed. By supplementing these basic necessities, people can
use limited dollars to pay their rent and utilities. The program
also offers job training in merchandising, store management, computer
and office skills, Over 3,000 youth of our community help to operate
the facility.
Villa
Majella of Santa Barbara
Villa Majella is a residential program for single pregnant women 18
years of age or older who have chosen to carry their babies to term.
Since 1982 we have provided a nurturing environment of education and
support so that women and their babies can find hope for a healthy
and productive life.
Amnesty
International is a worldwide campaigning movement that works to
promote all the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration
of Human Rights and other international standards.. In particular,
Amnesty International campaigns to free all prisoners of conscience;
ensure fair and prompt trials for political prisoners; abolish the
death penalty, torture and other cruel treatment of prisoners; end
political killings and "disappearances"; and oppose human rights abuses
by opposition groups.

Surgical
Eye Expeditions (S.E.E.) International is a non-profit humanitarian
organization founded in 1974 to recruit, coordinate and deploy volunteer
ophthalmologists, nurses and technicians to perform free, sight-restoring
surgery throughout the developing world.
The
League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization established
to promote political responsibility through informed and active
participation of citizens in government. The League never supports
nor opposes candidates, but does take action on issues in accordance
with League positions arrived at through member study and consensus.
Cancer
Center of Santa Barbara
At the Cancer Center, patients find a caring, committed staff, state-of-the-art
equipment, and renewed hope. Many patients, after receiving treatment,
go on to live long lives, free of disease; for others, treatment
means easing the pain sometimes associated with the disease, thereby
improving the quality of life.
The
Junior League of Santa Barbara is an organization of women committed
to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and
to improving the community through the effective action and leadership
of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and
charitable.
Family
Service Agency is Santa Barbara County's first and oldest non-profit
human service agency. Its programs help people help themselves. FSA
services prevent family breakdown, intervene effectively where problems
are known to exist and help individuals and families build on existing
strengths. Family Service Agency programs are available throughout
Santa Barbara County.
Since 1977,
the Environmental Defense
Center has provided public education and legal services to environmental
and community groups dedicated to environmental quality in California's
south-central coast region.
Direct
Relief is a non-profit humanitarian aid organization based in
Santa Barbara, California. For more than fifty years, we have been
sending shipments of medical supplies and equipment worldwide to
help the victims of civil unrest, natural disasters and chronic
poverty.
Bunnies Urgently Needing
Shelter (B.U.N.S.) Cares for stray and abandoned rabbits at the
Santa Barbara County (CA) Animal Shelter. B.U.N.S. operates the rabbit
area under contract to the county and at no cost to the public.
